about Joy
I was born in Los Angeles, and I spent my youth singing and dancing, feeling the spirit of music moving through me.
After singing through my years at Beverly Hills High School in the Madrigal Singers under the leadership of Joel Pressman, I went on to graduate from Boston University, School of Music, receiving traditional Bel Canto pedagogy from Phyllis Hoffman.
I have performed the roles of Norina, Don Pasquale; Papagena, Magic Flute; the Witch, Into the Woods; Adele, Die Fledermaus; Duchess of Plaza-Toro, The Gondoliers.
I became a candidate for Actor's Equity playing in the musical, Sweeney Todd with Musical Theater West, directed by Calvin Remsberg. Other musicals under Calvin's direction include Titanic and The Sweet Smell of Success,
I have performed in many Southern California venues such as the Dolby Theater, The Barclay Theater, The Huntington Gardens, Sinai Temple, Hillcrest Country Club, and the Beverly Hills and Santa Monica Libraries.
I perform regularly for Jewish Family Services and their Cafe Europa Members.
I have studied with many wonderful teachers including Cathy Gabrielle Wallace, Phyllis Hoffman, Diana Castle, Calvin Remsberg, Janice McVeigh, and Joan Zajac,
In 2013, I auditioned for Season 8 of America's Got Talent. I advanced to top 100 out of 75,000. I went on to perform at the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Theater. For that audition I sang O Mio Babbino Caro while standing on my head. (see video) Same year, I was featured in the Victoria Principal Skincare Infomercial.
I continue to teach Yoga to both Adults and Kids, I am deeply grateful for each opportunity that allows me to challenge myself and share my love singing.
Joy Weiser is a singer, dancer, and actor. Born in Los Angeles, Joy has performed in a variety of musical theater productions including: Don Pasquale; The Magic Flute; Into the Woods; Titanic; Sweet Smell of Success; Rock Opera of Phantom of the Opera, and The Gondoliers.
In April 2015, Joy released her debut album, Below the Surface, focusing on songs from her heart--of passion, love, heartbreak, freedom and unity.
Joy is the host of Salon De Light, a recurring evening of performance and socializing.
